ABOUT
“Don’t build your house right up against her trees. There is fire in her eyes and she’s aching to burn free.”
Pax “the good kind of scary” Robinson started “Women on Fire Reno” with the mission to elevate and celebrate women, especially those in the performing and visual arts. Women on Fire’s (WoF) collective dream is to co-create events that bring people together in surprising and inspiring ways. WoF is dedicated to creating opportunities for small miracles instead of small talk, facilitating chances for cross pollination between a diversity of people and communities and helping to create flesh and blood real world connections instead of flat, digital discord. All while throwing every stale event script out the window and searching for fresher and more meaningful ways.

Like all fires we are staring small, with sparks and tinder, but with the right amount of heart and heat, who knows what is possible? We want to unleash the power of people coming together to recognize, celebrate and appreciate women. To co-witness the magic that will happen when conflagrations of passion and connection burn between Reno’s women and their supporters.
Is it getting hot in here?
Most definitely.

Mission:
Women on Fire Reno is dedicated to elevating, celebrating and empowering creative women. We host events year round, culminating in our most powerful annual event of the year: She’s on Fire: Women’s Art and Music Festival.
FAQ:
Are men welcome at “Women on Fire Reno” events:
Absolutely! We love respectful supporters of all genders and identities. There are even some male performers at our events, as our bands are required to be composed of at least 50% women. We are not trying to exclude men, we are trying to elevate women, who have historically been underrepresented in music and the arts.
What should I expect at a Women on Fire Reno event?
Variety, surprise and creative opportunities galore! We love performers of all mediums and so you may get to experience what happens when a poet, a clown and a pole dancer walk into a bar. Astonishment is kind of our thing, so most events will have a few surprises to keep you on your twinkle toes. And we think creativity is a human right, so every event will have at least one (and usually several) ways for you to make, express and explore.
What’s with the mottos?
We encourage contributors to Women on Fire Reno to choose mottos that represent them in a sometimes serious, often light hearted way. These mottos help us get to know each other better, are a form of creative expression and are just plain fun. Our founder Pax chose the first motto, “The good kind of scary” and the mayhem ensued from there. You can read some more mottos here.
How can I get involved?
Thanks for asking. We are entirely volunteer run, so we can almost always use help of all sorts including event planning and organizing, tech assistance, stage and set building, art making and more! Let us know what you like to do and we can probably find a way for your efforts and contributions to enrich our community. We encourage individuals to find their place in the Women on Fire Reno community and hopefully find what lights their fires! Email use at womenonfireReno@gmail.com to get started…
I am a women performer or group with fire to share. How can I get involved?
Email us at womenonfireReno@gmail.com to introduce yourself, tell us what you do and we will start from there. Hopefully we can make magic happen together.
What do you stand for?
Providing opportunities and platforms for talented women and nourishing healthy creative ecosystems. Learning from healthy ecosystems in nature we apply similar principals of diversity, balance, respect for people and resources and appreciation of beauty. We invest any funds raised in local artists, musicians and future events.
Building community one event at a time. To attract a diversity of people to our events we make them free when possible and also offer sliding scale and sponsored tickets. Many events are all-ages and family friendly.
